To Parties Interested in Licensing Word-Sport™

An Analogy
Many pin the success of a toy or games introduction and sales primarily on the Christmas season. But Word-Sport™ is more then just a game and there is more to the selling season than Christmas. Consider the success and endurance of the Frisbee®. It was originally named the Pluto Platter when introduced in 1948, but it wasn’t a big seller. It wasn’t till the 1960’s, in a licensing agreement with Wham-o that sales really began to soar. Wham-o general manager Ed Headrick decided to promote Frisbee® not as a toy, but as a sport. 1964 was the birth year of the Frisbee® Tournaments through another of Hedrick’s’ creations... the International Frisbee Association. The idea of turning an idle toy into a full fledged sport worked as Wham-o® was selling Frisbees® by the millions. Not a fad, the Frisbee® is here to stay.

Objective
We have a vision to do the same with Word-Sport™… the fast-break word game! I’m looking for a licensing agreement to manufacture and sell the game similar to the one Horn and Abbot (Trivial Pursuit®) has with Hasbro. I want to be highly involved with the marketing and promotion through tournaments and conventions.

Marketing Plan
A competitive/educational tournament event can be targeted to girls and boys, 12 to 18 years old. An innovative play format with specially designed gaming tables can handle many teams and individuals from participating schools. Competition for recognition, scholarships and other prizes are the incentives to participation. Sponsorships can be made from major companies. This will create an annual demand for the game and other related items.

Similar tournaments can be operated on the college/adult levels. Play goes so fast, win times are registered to the hundredths of a second! The concept has play tested well at various game conventions. One tournament format is called the Word-Sport Coffee House Competitions™.

Where We Are Today
Like Scrabble®, Word-Sport™ has the built in elements of luck and skill, but adds a new dimension... Speed, with unique ways to score points. The game box is also very different as all sides of the box are highly utilized with descriptive text. The bottom of the proto-type box serves as advertising for the extra tile set (required for 6 to 8 players) and also sets up a demand for the innovative tournament “gaming clock”.

Word-Sport™ has these distinct features:

Word-Sport™

* Count down timer
* Innovative tile designs
* No numeric values on letters
* Wild Tiles for interaction
* No game board
* CD-ROM and Internet game
* Tournament designed
* Adaptable to foreign languages

Passes the five question test

* Produces a clear cut winner
* Provides a new experience every round
* It’s enjoyable
* It’s challenging
* And non-frustrating

Where we can be tomorrow
Word-Sport™ has great potential in many categories: as a box game, a CD-ROM and live internet game, a tournament play format for both children and adults and other related items. There are no other board games which can be made into a competitive tournament like Word-Sport™. We have a website unlike any other dedicated to a single game in place at www.word-sport.com. A patent and trademark are applied for.
